Melanie Machetto, 47, struts across the floor of Francos Norma Jean’s Nightclub in Castroville, Calif. on December 18, 2015 during a weekly drag show every Saturday night.
When Machetto was 7, she didn’t have a wig, so she used a bathroom towel. After putting on her sister’s dress and shoes, she was ready.
“I started singing in front of the bathroom mirror,” she says.
Forty years later, she is still dressing up and singing.
