My name is Nic Coury and I am an editorial and commercial photographer based in Monterey, California.
Photography is the best way I have found to help me understand why we are here and how we function in our daily lives as humans. I am endlessly fascinated by the weird and wild world we live in and photojournalism helps me better understand it.
I want to tell the stories of marginalized communities, namely the queer community. I identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and want to help make the world safer for queer, trans and non-binary youth through storytelling. I am currently working on a self-assigned portrait project to document how folks of all walks of life find quiet and silence in an increasingly loud and technology-driven world.
I am currently the staff photographer for the Monterey County Weekly and am a regular contributor to the San Francisco Chronicle.
